Barcelona - Deportivo La Coruña Saturday 4pm ET
By: Isaiah | March 29th, 2007Barcelona returns to action at home as the international break ends. A lot of blaugrana players were away on international duty, some of them even stirring up a little controversy by having his number switched. Regardless of what number he’s wearing, Ronaldinho can play, which I think Chile now understands to be true. Iniesta scored against Iceland, ensuring that Spain continued their hot week with their second victory in as many games. That puts Spain in third place in Group F, four points behind 1st place Northern Ireland.
I’m not sure I wrote that correctly. Let me recheck: Northern Ireland? Yep, Northern Ireland is in first place in Group F. While everyone else has only played 5 (and Denmark and Latvia only 4) and Northern Ireland 6, they’re still in first! Amazing. I always chose Northern Ireland in the various video games I played when my friends were trying it out for the first time and got to be Brazil…and now they’re in first!
Well, like I said, Depor is arriving to play Barca on Saturday and it could be a very slow game as the international players get back into the flow. It’s usually a dangerous game for the team with more international players and Barcelona definitely qualifies here. Depor sit in 12th, 17 points behind leaders Barcelona, who more than likely need to win to maintain their slight advantage over Sevilla. Depor is a mediocre team, but a 9-9-9 record isn’t anything to laugh at in the latter stages of the season. I’ve always been respectful of Depor and even in what can be considered a slightly down year, they’re always dangerous. They’ve gone 2W-1D-2L in the last 5, which is exactly what Barcelona have done, so they’re no slouches.
I’ll try to post more tomorrow, but I don’t think I’ll have the time to find the lineups and get them up. Deco is out, that’s a certainty; hopefully the game will go well.

Poor old Ronnie. People seem to forget he’s human sometimes. I know I’m harsh on him but some guys make me seem like I’m Ray Hudson.
Goddamnit, apparently Marquez played okay for Mexico this week, but now he’s injured. So we’ll have to see if Motta or Edmilson are any closer to form.
