Barcelona - Getafe: Venganza!
By: Isaiah | May 24th, 2007Revenge. It is a brutal word most of the time, even in sports. But now is not the time to be squeamish about such things as semantics. Now is the time for hard hearts and quick feet, the latter for scoring goals, not for running away. They beat us 4-0 at the Alfonso Perez to take away our god-given right to win a Copa del Rey title in the Bernabeu and for that, well, they deserve to die. They deserved to die and I hope they burn in hell.
I’ll admit, I do a terrible impersonation of Dave Chappelle doing his impersonation of Samuel L. Jackson, but regardless, Getafe are
Oh, right. That. (And yes, I chose this particular clip based entirely upon the completely inappropriate song. Naturally).
If Barca can pull off another Atletico-esque performance, well, Real Madrid beware. Personally I think this is a very tricky encounter, but certainly not too great a challenge to overcome. After all, Barca are at home where they’ve reigned supreme so far in the league. Getafe are fighting for a UEFA Cup spot and perhaps have received some bulk mail from across town, though that’s somewhat doubtful as they’re all rivals in the capital. Anyway, besides the back room negotiating, there’s doubtless some front room blustering going on as the title race gets tighter and tighter. At least it’s a good year for the neutrals and not some silly walkover like England, Italy, or France. Germany was close enough, I suppose, but still, whatever, that’s the Bundesliga and who can even name more than 2 teams playing there (you can’t see it, but I’m raising my hand since I actually love the Bundesliga).
The game is scheduled for Saturday at 4pm EST. I’m gone for the weekend, so consider this my “preview”. Sorry for all of my diehard fans who check in every Friday for a glimpse of the future. (Mom, I’m talking you)

Ooof! That was too close for comfort. And now we have two nerve-wracking (my nerves, at least) games ahead without Ronnie. This will be a test of character for the team. I’m sure we can get all six points, though.

I may support Madrid in my heart but there’s no denying Messi is a world class wonder (A demi-god perhaps?
)But of course, Madrid > Barcelona.
Ha, looking forward to trading knowledge with you throughout the season. Take care!
