Lineups for the Bilbao game and Dida to Barca?
By: Isaiah | February 24th, 2007It looks like Eto’o may get a start on Sunday against Bilbao, though there’s nothing confirmed. Barcelona paper Sport reports (Spanish) that Eto’o and Ronaldinho are both in the lineup for the game, though it’s unclear who will start. All we know for sure is that four players are out: Deco and Zambrotta (suspended), Belletti (short-term ankle injury) and Marquez. Otherwise, here are the 18 that have been made available for the game:
Keepers: Valdés y Jorquera
Defenders: Oleguer, Puyol, Thuram, Gio y Sylvinho
Midfielders: Xavi, Iniesta, Edmílson, Motta
Forwards: Giuly, Saviola, Gudjohnsen, Ezquerro, Messi, Eto’o y Ronaldinho
It’s good to see Eto’o back in the lineup, though Exzquerro’s inclusions suggests that Rijkaard isn’t planning on putting Eto’o in for all that long. I expect this team to start:
Valdés, Oleguer, Puyol, Thuram, Gio, Xavi, Iniesta, Ronaldinho, Messi, Giuly, Saviola
Rijkaard, however is know for throwing curveballs.
This probably deserves its own post, but it’s getting tacked on to this one anyway:
Martha over at the Italy Offside pointed out today that there are rumors circulated in both the Spanish and Italian sports media outlets/tabloids that Dida could join Barcelona at the end of the season. Sport mentions the Gazzetta dello Sport article that Martha mentioned as its source, so who knows where the rumors began. Anyway, here (Spanish) is Sport’s take on it.
Have a good weekend, I’ll see you Monday evening with a match report.
