Rodrigo Palacio: Anakin Skywalker of world football
By: Isaiah | May 22nd, 2007
Look, I don’t care how good he supposedly is, if Rodrigo Palacio arrives at Camp Nou with that, that THING attached to his head I’ll…well I don’t know what I’ll do, but it won’t be pretty. Who does he think he is!?
Seriously.

A rat tail on a guy with a receding hairline. What does one call that look?
How much are Barca going to spend to get him? Will they include the price of a haircut?

Supposedly they’re going to spend between 12 and 18 million euros…if he can’t afford a haircut with whatever salary they give him, he can just stay in South America.

Oh dear.
I’m more worried about us spending that much money on another Maxi Lopez…lets remember that this is a player who scored less goals than Higuan per season in Argentina.. He could potentially be a good backup but from what I’ve seen I’m not sure he’s worth spending big money on. Plus Argentines not named Lionel Messi haven’t had the best history in Barcelona.Posted from

As a Boca Juniors and Barça fan I’ve seen quite a lot of Palacio. He has some skills and I think will make it in Europe. Is he good enough to hold down a starting spot for the Blaugrana, that might be tough. I can’t seem to find any statistics from either of them but I’m pretty sure Palacio finds the net quite a bit more than Higuaín. Pretty sure Rodrigo scored 14 goals in the last tournament, he’s been hurt a little this tournament but he and Riquelme are linking up quite well.

Ken, according to Wikipedia, Palacio has scored 38 times in 74 games for Boca since joining in 2005, while according to ESPN Deportes, he’s scored 10, 12, 7, and 6 for a total of 35 league goals since joining. Either way, he’s scored somewhere between 6 and 9 goals in 10 or so games during the Clausura 2007. That’s pretty good numbers, really, especially if he’s been injured a lot.
The severity of those injuries could lead to Barca not signing him, but he should be a good backup to Eto’o — he’d be playing a sort of Saviola-esque position, with Guddie also in the mix unless he leaves over the summer.

Hey i think palacio will do quite well in europe, he is probably the best striker in Argentina. As for him being like Maxi Lopez, I dont think so, lopez was a river plate player for 6.6 mill euros, who had scored like 2 goals in 36 apps over 4 years for river, he is just not a striker. Best thing he did was score against chelsea, but it was the only thing he did. Palacio actually scores, and is lethal in front of goal like eto’o. (go on youtube and see for yourself). The plan for palacio is to be a second striker after eto’o and before bojan krkic.
I hope he is a hit over here, and if he is, (this is just a thoery, dont think too badly of me) barca might be able to get 50 million for eto’o from liverpool or man u.

People crtisise Palacios about his hair. Well I dont get it whats so bad about a tail. Hey if you see how he plays his one one of the best fowards. Now in the other side you got Gudjonsen that guy sucks insted of givng up Saviola we should give him up and get this guy to play it out with Etto. That way we would have Messi,Henry,Saviola, and get Placios or Etto to play attacking foward.

He can do whatever he wants with his hair. Who are you to question that?
He is a football player, an excellent striker. Are you jealous, if you have some hair you too can do it.Posted from

stop hating on the guy if yall could see how he plays you would be admireing him. i like the tail. he says if he cuts he will never have good luck again and not be as good. the guy is a late bloomer in the game but i admire his speed dribbling and shot. he defintely deserves a spot in argentina and also fc barcelona.

don’t worry guys! barca get Henri and now Palacio will join Arsenal. He’s good, very fast with thunderbolt shooting and great dribbling skill!
that’s a great replacement for Henri.Posted from

Arsenal have captured the signing of Andre Shevchenko for £15 million this afternoon. Shevchenko was pleased to join the Gunners and he explained, “Chelsea didn’t agree with my style of play. I am better suited the the romance of Arsenal’s flowing, beautiful football.” Shevchenko is expected to complete all formalities this evening, and will be paraded to the fans at The Emirates Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

IN REPLY TO GARRY - GET REAL MATE SHEVCHENKO, I DON’T THINK SO DO YOU? I’D RATHER SIGN MIDO, AT LEAST WE’D HAVE A WATER CARRIER FOR THE END OF THE GAME SHEVCHENKO IS A HAS-BEEN! WALCOTT AND V.PERSIE WITH ADEBAYOR AND NEW BOY EDUARDO WILL SEE US THROUGH - AND IF WENGER THINKS WE NEED ANOTHER STRIKER, RATHER HAVE MARTINS AS HE HAS ADAPTED TO LIFE IN THE PREM ALLREADY AND SCORED GOALS IN A TEAM OF NOBODIES!

hahaha i love it how you guys critisize his hair just becuase he is new, and from south america. If anything, I like it because it seperates him from the rest. Some people like to wear yellow headbands, or put gel in their hair for games, but he keeps it simple and just has a rat tail. and by the way he is one of the most under rated players i know. He would do fine anywhere.
