SuperCup part II (who says sequels aren’t as good as originals?)
By: Iggy | August 22nd, 2009Remember the first game? Yeah that 2-1? And we rocked that! We remember…but LordPep sure doesn’t, look for him to bring out all of the guns that he has (and he’s got more guns at his disposal than a Texas Redneck). With that in mind, and considering the fact that Guardiola already showed that he’s taking this competition seriously by putting the kids in the Gamper, let’s go out there and take the first silverware of the season. We have to be the favorites here not just because…come on it’s us…but because Bilbao had a real game midweek so they won’t show up fresh (I’ll abandon the nicknames until I put up a post describing them)
The team that certainly hasn’t forgotten the away leg is Bilbao. They will have to attack from the first whistle if they plan on winning not just the game, but the trophy. This should open more lanes to run/pass and give our midfield the room it needs.
So what’s the lineup? I’m thinking Pep will roll out
——–Valdes——-
Alves–Puyol–Pique–Abidal
–Xavi–Yaya–Keita–
-Messi–Ibrahimovic–Henry-
I would like to see Busquets in for Keita but Guardiola has shown his preference for Keita who can let others play and take the glory (and has a damn good shot too). Busquets might come on as a sub as well as Pedro or Bojan.
Iniesta and Marquez are still out (get better Andres…Marquez…take your time).
Ibrahimovic is healthy so we should see him start, hopefully he’ll net one or two but the most important thing is for him to gain confidence. I predict a midfield monologue led by Xavi and Yaya.
This game will be liveblogged on Sunday. If you live in the US I hope you have a good internet connection because this isn’t being shown on TV.
So now my prediction: 3-0 victory. lets keep this simple
Hasta la Victoria! Barça!!

Ah, Marquez Bashing. How nice. As if him getting a derogatory post wasn’t enough. This is ridiculous.

I hope we win with a huge margin & I wish Pep could field an all cantera team?
like below……
————Valdes
Puyol – Pique – Fontas – Muniesa
—–Xavi—-Busi—-Thiago
Messi——Bojan———Pedroif not for the whole game, then at least for the 1st half…

Hope we can take our first silverware!
As for Marquez… This guys been here since 2003. He’s a proven winner, a rock solid CB sub, and knows our highly intricate system as good or better than any defender we have (other than my main man Puyol). Don’t think he’s going anywhere anytime soon. I guess after Hleb left we have noone to bash. But Believe me… we need him. (rant over)
visca barca!

Iggy, i think you are doing a good job and still learning. As regards to the comments bashing Marquez, i think it will be a good idea as a admin to try and stay bit more objective in posting. You can always comment your personal views in comments sections.

Iggy, don’t worry about what the haters say. This isn’t an official news site, Kevin and Isaiah filled these pages with their opinions. Part of the reason why so many of us enjoy this blog is because of the flair of your opinions and your perspectives on the team.
So don’t let all the criticism bother you. Take the constructive stuff and use it to become better, but don’t let overzealous demands ruin a great thing such as this blog.
You’re doing well, and I’m excited for the Cup Final. Enjoy the match.

And I agree with JMo- being an Offside writer is basically all editorial work. Editorial work is strictly opinion. Keep it up!
