We got us some more Yaya

By: Kevin | June 25th, 2009

Pond Scum Seluk, agent of our man crush object, says that a deal has been done, and The Yaya will zoom down from Planet Man to sign the deal, probably on Friday.

Whether it is simply a big, fat raise or a raise and and extension, depends on where you look. EMD says raise. Sport says raise and one-year extension, to 2012.

As far as money, I can’t find dollar amounts yet, but Sport says his dosh will almost double.

In other news rumors:

–David Villa is all over but the shouting, with only the numbers and method of payment to be agreed upon. Welcome to the world of high-profile transfers, right? That would be like saying “I bought a car, but I don’t know how much it’s going to cost or how I’m going to pay for it. But the car is mine.” :D

Both Sport and EMD, bastions of unbiased reportage, say that the number will be ‘tween 40 and 45 million. Or not, since we can all recall that just last week, Valencia said Villa wasn’t for sale, no way, no how.

Villa says that all will become clear on Monday.

–A study by the University of Navarra’s Institute of Economics, Sports and Intangibles (Huh? What?), my favorite university name of all time says that Argy Bargy has leapfrogged Thong Boy in high-profile media value, whatever that means.

–Filipe, who will most likely be our very first signing of the transfer season, is ready and geeked. It is believed that a deal has been reached for the lateral defender.

–Jorge Valdano of the EE, horns just peeking from under his overstyled hair as spittle-flecked words flew from his gob, said his henchmen could go after anyone they want, even players from (shudder) Barcelona. “Why not, if there was a chance that we could do it,” Sport quotes Valdano as saying. “All we would have to do is have the player’s soul extracted, and find boots that fit cloven hooves.”

seemed half of those keirrison goals were PKs, another quarter slop or gimmies, and only a smallish handful of some quality…

I’m not saying the guy is bad or anything but… since when they have junkies playing as defenders in brazil? is it a part of a youth re-insertion program or something? :D

Ooga aga, remember that people watching a highlight reel of Eto’o’s goals of this season might say the same thing. It’s the life of a striker. Of every 10 goals, probably 1 is of that “What did I just see??!!” variety.

The other buzz has Cacerez headed Zaragoza way. As with everything, in a couple of weeks, once we start making moves, it will all make sense.

Also, Depor is wanting 15-20m for Filipe, so I wouldn’t be counting those chickens before they’re hatched, either. I can’t see us paying more than 10m for a backup left back.

The market is just stupid right now. EVERY club is overvaluing EVERY player. I could very well see us standing pat, the way the market is looking. We just don’t have a history (nor should we) of overpaying for players, particularly not as we have one of the best squads in the world, even if you consider, as many believe, that we got lucky last season. Stack up our starting XI against anybody’s, and we look pretty damned good:

Valdes (okay, you got me there, but he’s great for us)
Alves (one of best right backs)
    Pique (Piquenbauer! Say no more.)
    Puyol (the Lion still roars)
Abidal (yes, one of the best left backs extant)
The Yaya (mes que un hombre)
    Xavi (you’re kidding, right?)
    Iniesta (dude….you’re killing me)
Messi (best player on the planet right now)
Henry (best left wing on the planet right now)
Eto’o (one of the best strikers on the planet)

So ANYBODY we sign is not going to be starting now, except at striker if Eto’o leaves. That will affect what we are willing to pay on the market.

Kxevin, I can see the market calming down in a few weeks. And I can’t see us standing pat with Guardiola at the helm. He knows that would be a huge mistake that could tear apart this team. There’s no way we won’t sign at least 3 players.

So Laporta confirmed the signing of Keirrison, confirmed interest in Ribery but admitted that Bayern still will not sell, confirmed that Eto’o has a mammoth offer from City and that Villa may come. He also said that Filipe is not going to come if Depor want €20million. Obvious I suppose.
Pep gets the final word on Keirrison. He’ll do preseason with us and then decide.

Felipe Melo’s name reappeared today but that won’t happen because Fiorentina will not want to sell him.

I still think that Yoann Gourcuff would be a great addition to the midfield. He scores goals from outside the box. We currently don’t have anyone that can do that.

I don’t know why every other president wants to make our life more difficult. Depor want €20million for a backup left back. Moratti wants €70million for Ibra. Bayern want €60million for Ribery.
    Anyone for reason?

I for one am not interested in Kerrison. I don’t even know if that’s the right spelling, and I don’t want to check, because of all the rumors flying around this is probably the one I want to least see come true. O-ver-rated.

And I also have bittersweet feelings about Pirlo to Chelsea. Apparently this rumor is gaining a lot of steam and it just might happen. While I’d like to see Chelsea get a little more mothafuckin creative, I also hate them and Pirlo is a quality player. But then again, Italy is sort of the Chelsea of the international stage so they’ll be just the same next year probably if it even does go down. He’s getting older anyway, isn’t he? Deco.

Here is what goal.com said Laporta told iCat FM basically an elaboration of what Ciaran said:

Speaking to iCat FM, Laporta started with the nearly completed signing of Keirrison from Palmeiras, saying, “He will do the pre-season with us, and then Pep will decide if he stays.”

Laporta then moved on to the case of Franck Ribery, continuing, “He knows that we like him a lot, but if Bayern do not want to sell, we must respect that.”

Next on the agenda were the twin cases of Samuel Eto’o and David Villa, and Laporta was keeping all his options open, stating, “Txiki Begiristain will decide.

“If Eto’o accepts Manchester City’s mammoth offer, we will need another striker. Anyway, both of them can play together, and that would be very competitive.”

Finally, Laporta touched on Filipe Luis, following Deportivo La Coruna’s rejection of Barca’s latest offer: “We are not going to pay €20 million for him.

“We presented a sensible offer, but that figure is out of reach.”

I like the idea about trying Keirrison out in preseason which means he probably get loaned out and including him in a deal for Villa (which is foolish imo) probably won’t happen.

The point about Eto’o I thought was the most interesting. He basically confirmed that Man City have indeed bid around 30 million euros and that even if Eto’o stays, we may still want to sign Villa. Interesting…

Oh and Ciaran, every president wants to make our lives difficult because of Real Madrid. They have inflated the market to the extent that even that frog face president of Deportivo Lendoiro wants stupid money for Filipe. Sport has confirmed what Laporta said also.

Seriously he looks like a frog: http://www.sport.es/vivo/recursos/fotos/foto_372/foto_372624_CAS.jpg

I like Laporta’s use of the Catalan word “seny.” It’s not only sensible, but implies a depth of logic that dictates our signings. We’ll pay a lot, but it has to make a LOT of sense.

I think that our best option will be to sit tight and see how club presidents feel about players that no longer want to be there (la saga Arshavin). Then pounce. Arsenal have mastered that tactic.

Hell, Felipe has even started to learn Catalan. After reading a new interview by him every day, it will be disappoiting if he doesnt come. Greedy Presidents. Ruining our quest for domination, 1 transfer at a time :)

On another note, does anyone think Hleb will learn some Spanish by the time the new season rolls around? Hopefully he does, if he stays, that is.

Hell no Hleb won’t learn Spanish. He has to learn English properly first. It is always a problem if you aren’t even great at the language you are using to learn Spanish off of lol. I assume it’s a English to Spanish thing for Hleb, which doesn’t seem to be working out lol. No offense Hleb lol but your English has to improve first.

All “reports” are saying is that Eto’o is “negotiating” with Citeh, who are willing to pay us around 30m for him. Citeh is aiming to make him the highest-paid player in the Prem, supplanting their own Robinho, who is presently the highest-paid player in the Prem.

Meanwhile, Benzema might be back in play. Again, who the hell knows where this stuff is coming from, but apparently, when asked to name a “realistic” price for the striker, 30m was the number being bandied about, which Aulas would be prepared to accept.

Now, I need hip waders to get through the bullshit of that one. As if Aulas, who is almost as difficult to deal with as Sevilla’s Del Nido, would sell Benzema, one of the hottest properties in Europe, for 30m.
