Neeskens, en la “rueda de prensa” today, said that Yaya is out “for precaution” because in the last few days he has had some small pains in his back.

Neeskens: “There exist sufficient players to cover when some are hurt, and, therefore, as long as there are players that can do the job, we will not change our system [of play.]”

Other news on the website: marquez is getting better. no estimate on his return though.

I heard kun aguero might be doubtful for the game, he’s a bit hurt. we’ll see.

What I remember from last year’s match was that they switched back and forth, creating an untenable situation in which you knew nothing but the scorelines in both games. There was no flow to the games because you were constantly looking in on the other game. What a crap way to do it, if you ask me. Atletico-Barca is far bigger a match than Recre-Madrid…I’d say the same thing, by the way, if it were Levante-Barca and Sevilla-Madrid. They should show the more important match rather than both at once.

Might help if I actually started 11 guys, right?!? I’m afraid Edmilson gets the start in Yaya’s absence, not the Deco, Xavi, Iniesta trio. Krkic is being held out of the squad because of a contusion he picked up mid-week. Hopefully Ronnie is fully rested and ready to play like he did against Celtic. Messi has finally returned to the level he was at prior to his injury, which allows for one to argue that either he or Cristiano Ronaldo are currently the best player in the world. The difference between Messi and Ronaldo, Messi doesn’t disappear in big games. Not only does he not disappear, he shines in the big ones (hat trick vs. Real; 2 goals in CL game vs. Celtic). Also read somewhere that he’s attempting to improve his right foot more and if he’s successful it will be a scary thing for opposing players. The few times he uses it now, he leaves the opposition grasping at thin air. If he can gain more confidence in his right, he could possibly go down as one of the greatest (I know I’m making some ridiculous predictions, but IMO his only weakness right now is his off foot).
About this GolTV simulcast, which game do they air the commentary for (both or just one)?

Uh, oh. No Yaya means a big “Uh, oh.” No Marquez either. So will we get the Mighty Mites (Deco, Xavi, Iniesta), or will Kevin get his dream of the Messi/Ronaldinho/Eto’o/Henry front line? Probably not with Yaya out. I think your prediction is spot on, Kyle. He’ll want to get Ronaldinho some playing time, and hope that we can get a couple of goals. Then Eto’o and Krkic (or maybe Dos Santos) come in for the second half. I also think that we’ll definitely see Thuram this match, but not starting.

Ballbeav: Check out livesoccertv.com. This site usually has links to multiple p2p feeds of the games. I have streamed TVU at work due to my company’s policy of downloading applications/software. I have heard that sopcast works well, but you have to download the player.
On to this weekends match. The squad has been announced…Valdés, Pinto, Zambrotta, Puyol, Milito, Abidal, Sylvinho, Thuram, Edmílson, Xavi, Deco, Ronaldinho, Gudjohnsen, Iniesta, Messi, Henrio, Eto’o, Giovani. Here’s my prediction for the starting XI: Valdes, Zambrotta, Puyol, Milito, Abidal, Xavi, Iniesta, Ronnie, Messi, Henry. Similar lineup for the CL game against Celtic minus Marquez and Deco. Puyol and Milito deserve a break sometime soon, maybe this is the week that Thuram gets the nod. Prediction: 3-1 (Henry, Messi (2)).

My prediction for the Atletico game is 2-1 (Barca of course). Goals by hmm lemme take a wild guess…Ronnie and Iniesta.

ballbeav, you can download TVU Player at http://www.tvunetworks.com/ . After you download it and open up the program you will see that theres a channel list on the left hand side. GolTV is Football65217 on the list. Just give it a little time, sometimes its a little choppy only at the beginning. Hope this helps.

Argggh! I think I’ve located a spot in San Francisco that will be showing the match on Saturday. My flight lands at 10:05 a.m. and the match starts at 11 a.m. local time, so it will be a scramble. We’ll see.

GolTV is doing a simulcast of the Barca and Evil Empire matches. Not sure if that’s side-by-side, as it was for the last match of last season, or some other device. Either way, I’m going to try my damnedest to be there.
