I think the problem is that Ronaldinho was the best player in the world by 25 and three years later, when he should be even better, he is not scratching the surface. People expect the best and haven't seen anything this season.
The fact that this conversation has been going on for 18months is distraction enough. Like I said, he took the summer off after last season being poor just so he could come back at 100% and has still not even got fit. Forget injuries... they happen, but there does not seem to be the will to win that there once was.

Oh, Ronaldinho isn't a scapegoat. I was calling for his sale even when he was healthy, and respect the Barca players for not going public with any locker room stuff. They even laughed off the "black sheep" business.

My thoughts on Ronaldinho and his effectiveness have been well documented. But succinctly: He's been a waste for us all season, from showing up not ready to play to the dubious injuries and dalliances with other teams/rumor mills. Rumors aren't his fault, but they don't come out of the blue, either. Now he's really injured. That's unfortunate, but he should still be on the next train out of Barcelona.

Everybody has had their moment with the goat horns this season, from A (Abidal) to Z (Zambrotta). There isn't one scapegoat, though Rijkaard will take the fall (and he should for many reasons having little to do with finding a scapegoat).

I don't think Ronaldinho wants to play in Barcelona any longer, injured or not. It's a damaged relationship, not because of actions by any press, bystanders or fans. Something happened, and we might never discover what it was. Maybe the fans in Barcelona are too demanding. Maybe the press is too harsh. Maybe, maybe, maybe. I dunno.

But opinions, mine included, are like bungholes. Everybody has 'em. And all combined, they aren't worth much. But it's fun to speculate.

He's been brilliant, and the way that he used to be will be a loss. But in my opinion (see above, re: bungholes) the team has to move on.

The evidence is clear that the players support Ronnie, and that he was right that there was something wrong with his leg.

Eto'o and Messi didn't make simple "We support Ronnie" lip service, in fact Messi challenged the fans by saying they showed a lack of respect for what Ronnie has achieved for Barca. He basically called out cules and all the muckrakers over at Sport and EMD. That's not just public support, those are strong words that he didn't have to say unless he meant them. It's also no coincidence that the players who know Ronnie and see his situation up close support him, while his detractors are mostly opinion writers and people removed from the situation.

Ronnie was also vindicated on the injury. As soon as he trained, he tore a muscle. That was medically proven by MRI.

This is hard evidence. All talk of a broken locker room that has turned on Ronnie is mere speculation. Plenty of locker rooms go public when there is a situation that is "tearing the locker room apart".

I guess people just have to have a scapegoat when things aren't going the way they hope. Why people chose Ronnie, rather than Abidal who choked away points won much of the season and has accomplished nothing for the blaugrana, I can't understand.

74mins

Eidur is on for Yaya Toure and the natives are getting even more restless

Henry is the Barca's right at the moment and Getafe's keeper has just saved brillantly from Eidur
