Getafe - Barcelona: Saturday 2pm EST
By: Isaiah | November 9th, 2007I’m sorry about the lax posting the last couple of days, but I’ve had some personal issues to deal with and they’re going to extend through at least the beginning of next week, so don’t expect any posts before Tuesday at the earliest. If anyone would like to preview or review the Getafe game, please let me know, via email at barcelona[at]theoffside[dot]com and I can post your entries as a guest-blogger. For now, here is the briefest of previews for the Getafe-Barcelona game.
Barca’s squad: Valdés, Jorquera, Milito, Puyol, Thuram, Zambrotta, Oleguer, Abidal, Sylvinho, Xavi, Iniesta, Touré Yayá, Gudjohnsen, Messi, Ronaldinho, Henry, Bojan and Dos Santos.
Note that Zambrotta returns while Marquez is out in the merry-go-round that is the Barcelona defense. The injury Marquez has seems , to me, to be more serious than before simply because he keeps being ferried in and out of the squad. Maybe he should just rest and come back fully fit? At least let’s hope we can get away with that, but with all these injuries…
The last time Barca went to Getafe’s Coliseum Alfonso Perez was the away leg of the Copa del Rey; Barca lost, of course, in a sad 4-0 rout, meaning their 5-2 lead and “that goal” were erased. Messi claims this is not a redemption game, a game of revenge, and he’s right. It’s a game we need to win, especially because I fully expect Real Madrid to beat Mallorca at the Bernabeu. While Sevilla might be on a roll, they go up against Villarreal at the Madrigal, which hasn’t been kind to too many teams over the years (RM’s visit earlier this season not withstanding).
Okay, that’s all the time I have; sorry folks. Visca el Barca!
Oh and I’ll be watching this game at Lucky Bar in DC if anyone lives in the area and wishes to come by.

Getafe arent the same team as last year and we are better. Always worry if consistency will arrive but Henry, Ronnie and Messi seem to be good enough to win any game. I would like more goals from midfield and maybe every now and then from further back.
