La Liga Preview Getafe – FC Barcelona: Take No Prisoners

By: kelsey | September 14th, 2012

Will the Fifa Virus claim another victim? Let’s hope not. After jaunts abroad compliments of their home nations, the Barca boys return to face a familiar foe who has made toppling La Liga’s big boys a recent habit claiming both Real Madrid earlier this season and Barca last season as casualties. Hopefully the team comes out unscathed but Barca will need to be on their A-game to overcome the defense minded deep seated Getafe side.

The Fifa Virus is no laughing matter, boys.

The Fifa Virus is no laughing matter, boys.

Without the silkiness of Iniesta in the midfield, peskiness of Alexis up front, and speed of Alba in the back, Tito will need to tinker with his starting eleven a bit. Expect to see:

—————–VV——————-
Alves—-Pique — Puyol —-Adriano
————-Busquets—————-
——Xavi ———–Cesc———
—Pedro—–Messi——-Tello—–

I’d love to see MVP again, but doesn’t sound as though Villa’s ready to play a full match yet so hopefully he’ll be brought on as an impact sub later on. Believe Montoya may also get another shot to prove himself as Dani’s still got some nagging injury concerns and Tito will likely want to keep his minutes down if able. And in the midfield, either Song or Thiago (hooray, he’s back!) will get some minutes depending on how the game’s progressing, and whether we get to see good play maker Cesc or bad dazed and confused Cesc.

Look for Pedrito to continue his fabulous form of late and bag the first one, and for Messi to score because, well, he’s Messi. Final time prediction: 2-0 Barca.

Visca Barca!
