Y’all know the drill. Lineups, bouquets (not Busquets), brickbats and various match-related natterings, all go here.

The pic is from our 3-1 win over Mallorca at the Camp Nou, with Captain Caveman doing what he does best.

Have fun!

Wow, he has been worthless all of 2009? that’s a rash statement if I’ve ever seen one, the penalty miss is so clear to explain that I thought it was obvious. The guy can’t stand to score against his “true love”, it’s like expecting Henry to score against Arsenal, his head might say yes, but his heart and body wont cooperate. Anyways still, he has been sensational in 2009, it’s his best season thus far but I guess people only remember this misses instead of the ones that he does score. I mean, Messi has been in bad form for over a month and a half now and I don’t see anyone calling for his head, or the after the game when Henry missed at least five clearcut chances, people only spoke about the one goal that he scored but when it comes to Et’o, all of a sudden it’s sell him. Shame after the way he was treated last summer, told he wasn’t needed and treated like trash, here it starts all over again.

You guys are worse on Eto than the Milan offside is on Ronaldinho and the thing is, Eto plays and has scored loads of goals.

It’s a pity we could’nt of won this game but with so many young players on the pitch it was’nt too bad of a performance although none of them really impressed me that much. I thought Hleb played pretty well along with Bojan, I think the team are putting too much emphasis on trying to find Etoo everytime and this is putting pressure on him to finish but some of his attempts were poor by his standards, he does a lot better when he can just pop up and score from a quick pass in the box with a one touch finish. I’m sure he’ll be able to step up in the CL final and make the most of his chances because hopefully he’ll have Henry, Iniesta and Messi cutting the MU defence to pieces for him.

I really hope that all this talk of Ribery, Villa and Silva are put on the back burner untill after he sign some top class defenders. That’s the one are on the pitch we need to strengthen, I can’t believe that a team like Barca have such an obvious weakness for everybody to see. Maybe I’m wrong but can anyone think of any other major team barring Real ( can they be called a major team ) where their weakness is so obvious. Every time a team plays Barca they know that if they put some high balls into the box they will create at least two or three clear cut chances. I know it was not our strongest back line tonight but the marking for Mallorcas second goal was none existant.

I’ve read a few articles lately saying that Barca are trying to sign Vidic, hopefully this is true because he is one of the best defenders in Europe and he would deffinitely shore up our defence.

The result of this match did’nt matter and I really should’nt criticise since we are champions but I suppose there is nothing wrong with constructive criticism

    Barca Barca BARCAAAAA!!!

I am also in the “calm down about Eto’o” camp. Most teams have to deal with mysterious drops in form from their strikers and he has been very good this season and mostly fully committed to the team plan. I want to see him put more of those amazing chances away too, but I don’t see any reason he can’t have a good match next week and the week after.

As for the team, if ever we could afford to mess around with the lineup and see what happens, today was that day. There’s only one game left to play and I think Pep knows that. Who gives a rat’s ass that we lost to Mallorca?

Well AS i can see from this macth our future is in very good hands with the next generation.Basically every youth player had a good game and if it was with the regular starters,we would’ve been a win………

Regarding other comments….Eto’o have not been worthless all of 2009…His goals have been as important as Messi’s.I would love to see a new striker in the squad but as we all know all strikers has their up and downs…(Drogba,Torres,Roony,Even Villa)..IMO I believe Eto will bounce back when we need him the most.

Zito: For months now (at least two) his first touch has been crap AND for a couple of weeks he has been missing numerous opportunities, two of which could have cost us the CL semifinals.

So when people say “sell him” it’s not just because of this game.

And they also say that because someone like Bojan or other inexperienced strikers could have put away 85-90% of those chances.

I guarantee you that if you put Bojan in there, he would not, it’s a matter of composure and luck. Bojan does not have nearly enough experience or composure to do it

Zito i beg to defer.Although Bojan is young and maybe unexperieced he has the nerves of any other forward in the Barca squad….

Did u see that finish in the Copa final…It was pure Henry class…..Did u see that cross to assist Eto’o goal in this game..Pure Iniesta class…And the thing is he is only going to get better with some of the best players around him……IMO he is a mini-young mix of Messi/Iniesta/Henry.(For his finishing and ability to assist others)

Wow, Eto’o really sucked today. he cost us the 3 points.

It shows you how defendable he really is.

And i think we can see that his crazy goal scoring rate is because of all the service he receives. We definitely need a new striker for next season. Regardless of Eto’o staying or leaving.

Would it be too risky to see how he does for 6 months and then try to sell him in the winter if he keeps hlebing up?

Even if he stays, we need a striker for Europe, who is a little more physical. I want me some Ibra, Torres, or Arshavin.

Villa would be nice if we were just gonna offload Eto’o in the summer.

Getting Ribery would be nice, We can use Henry as our striker, and have Bojan be his number 2 since at 31, Henry cant play 50 games a season.

I would be TOTALLY happy to see Ibrah up front next year rather than inconsistent eto’o.

villa is first choice but otherwise im totally on the ship-eto’o-out boat.

forlan deserves the pichichi for sure.

oh and i dont think tevez would be much better than eto’o up front.

    thoughts?

Bojan is developing into our little genius lately btw, what a player hes going to be for us.

Really? I would put $1,000 on him scoring us that goal that Eto’o missed against Chelsea.

I’d also put $1,000 on Bojan getting at least a Brace had he been no.9 today.

For him having such a lack of composure and experience, he scored an amazing goal against Bilbao in an atmospheric stadium that does not welcome young no9s lacking in experience and composure.

Today, he got an assist and should have had others. Did you see his pass to Eto’o? And what’s really sad here is that this young and inexperienced player was actually trying his hardest to give Eto’o chances to score.

Eto’o still leaves the stadium with one goal.

Then Bojan goes to the Bernabeu to skin Heinze and dish out a great cross. All with only the ~10 minutes he had out on the field.

Months ago, in the first half of the season, I would agree that Eto’o would outscore Bojan in his sleep but this is a different Eto’o, has been so for months, and needs to wake the **** up before the final in Rome.

I’d only sell him because Villa is my favorite and I’d do anything to have him play in the FCB jersey, but Eto’o is trying oohh soo hard to get dropped in the summer.

i’m really happy with the ones we have now too, the yellow away kits were awesome as well but i guess you can’t be too creative when it comes to the home shirt. at least we don’t have chelsea’s breast plates :P

Tevez loves to pressure, which is what Barca loves to do as well. His passing is exceptional, and that’s another thing that Barca loves to do. So I think the two would fit well together.

But as Arshavin said, it would be hard for them to get a lot of playing time with our current squad. Tevez would definitely not like to play subs and back up all season long.

But Tevez can play a bunch of different positions so for team rotation, he wouldn’t be too bad of a choice if he was cheaper.

i wouldnt say that im a big eto’o lover, but i wouldnt go so far to bash him either. if he scores in the final the same people who gave him so much crap will be kneeling to him. yeah his touch and finishing have been off lately but his body of work from this entire season is second to none in la liga. and someone said how defendable he really is…he got by his defenders, his problem today was that he couldnt finish. in europe, defendable, not la liga.

The thing is, everyone’s passing him the ball instead of trying to score themselves, it might sound crazy, but they’re looking at him to be the sole scorer maybe for the goal scoring award but I believe it unnerves him. I mean, think about when he was in good form, it’s because Messi, Henry, Xavi and Iniesta were all threatening to score but now everyone just gives him the ball and waits to see what happens. Like said above, he performs better when the spotlight’s not on him.

I would love for Pep to play Bojan against United and I sincerely believe that by ten minutes in, everyone would beg for Eto and here’s why: Bojan plays excellent because he’s out on the wing, he can dribble in, make cuts and passes while Eto is in the middle, marked by two center backs, the thing is, Bojan would never get open to get those “clear cut” chances. Eto’s off the ball movement is amazing, he gets open regardless who is marking him and if you think Bojan could read defences like that, then I’m pretty sure Pep would have seen it by now.

Maybe Eto’o just needs a rest? The guy plays all of barca’s matches. Maybe he’s the kind of player that can still run around all workmanlike when he’s been overused, but the technical skills suffer? Maybe the way fatigue manifests itself in Eto’o is in his first touches and his composure, rather than the distance covered during a game?

They’re trying to assist him because he is supposed to be the team’s main scorer. When Barca beats Real Madrid 6-2 and Eto’o still doesn’t get a goal, there’s something wrong there.

If he’s still in this rut when Rome comes around, what are we supposed to do? That’s why they’re trying to help him. And frankly, I don’t blame them. We’ve lost too many players as it is.

We’re talking about finishing here but all of his off the ball movement is completely useless when he can’t finish anyway and he refuses to pass the ball to someone in a better position.

Eto’o has delivered all the way without letting the team down. and when we talk about him missing we forget about the number of times he has hit the post. after all the hard work and skill, sometimes even the very best need luck.
