Recreativo Huelva – Barcelona Preview
By: Isaiah | March 16th, 2007Barcelona have a middle-of-the-road away record this year (4W-5D-4L), which is good enough for 7th best away record in La Liga. Their full stats, for all you stat-crazed fans, are available here.
The roster for the game has been released:
Keepers: Valdés, Jorquera
Defenders: Puyol, Belletti, Zambrotta, Gio, Sylvinho, Thuram,
Midfielders: Xavi, Iniesta, Edmílson, Deco,
Forwards: Saviola, Ronaldinho, Messi, Gudjohnsen, Eto’o, Giuly.
The most notable absence is Márquez, who hasn’t been playing well, but who still makes valuable contributions. Oleguer will miss through suspension for his red card against Real Madrid, while Motta is still on a break and Ezquerro has been allowed to rest, whatever that means for a guy who never plays.
Prediction: 1-2. I think we can win this, especially if we play like we did against Madrid, as Recre doesn’t have the attacking options Madrid does. Still, we need to focus on our defense a lot, though a good offense will help relieve the pressure.
You know, I realize I haven’t predicted anything but wins for Barcelona since I started writing for this blog and that’s sort of strange as I tend to predict a lot of draws everywhere else. The thing is, I just can’t see Barcelona losing a lot of these matches (and really, we’ve won several of the games and should have won at Sevilla or at least drawn) and I feel like that’s a fair assessment of their chances. Recre just isn’t as good, even at home, as Barcelona, especially if the Catalans play like they obviously know how. If Messi, Eto’o, and Ronaldinho get the space they were allowed by Madrid, this game will turn into a rout faster than you can say hat trick…
