Back together again
By: Isaiah | August 13th, 2007
Now we’re back together, uh.
Misunderstanding, didn’t understand.
It doesn’t matter, now we’re back together again.
A-la la la la la.
Couldn’t split up Kato and Nash. (that’s true)
Couldn’t split up Tango and Cash.
That’s also true!
This is our song of exultant joy because
We only came to kick some ass.
Rock the fuckin’ house and kick some ass.
For the first time the entirety of Barcelona’s current first squad is in training. Or at least those who aren’t injured (Gudjohnsen, Puyol, and Edmilson are all still out, though Guddie is training, just in solitary). And apparently they have reverted to playing like 6-year olds. Marquez, Milito, and Messi all started working out with the team today after it returned to Barcelona from the Asian Tour. I know I didn’t post on the last game, which was a 0-4 blasting of Mission Hills Invitation XI, but it seemed so anticlimactic after a typhoon delayed the game by a day (a single day?) and made me post on the internet’s detritus. Deco is also back from spending time with his wife and newborn son, David. It’s his fourth child and second with Jaciara.
Good to have him back, as well as the others. Naturally the question of who will play gets all the more difficult, but I’ve already covered what I think should be the starting 11. We all have our opinions, but regardless of what you think, it’s got to be a tough call to make.
There are some transfer rumors out there, with Motta, Gudjohnsen, Ezquerro, and Maxi Lopez rounding out the mentionable ones. Specifically, Milan has offered 4million euros for Motta, to which I say, enjoy! Take him, please. While we need depth at defensive midfielder, I think we’ll be fine with Toure there and Marquez as a potential backup (though I’d rather see him in the back 4 at the moment).
Everton and Athletic Bilbao have made offers for Ezquerro, to which I again say absolutely yes yes yes. Get him out. And now. We don’t need him cluttering up our practice fields with his rubbishness. See what you’re making me do, Santi? You’re making me make up words. It doesn’t matter who is making an offer for Maxi Lopez either. Just take it. I hereby officially accept for FCB. Thank you.
As for Gudjohnsen, I’d like to see him remain in the squad for this year, but I doubt he’ll be at all happy with a Copa del Rey spot, so getting the most out him in terms of transfer money sounds good. That said, if we sell Guddie, we’d sort of have to keep the previously mentioned (and sold by me) players. His injured knee might push down his transfer fee a little, but I think with a forward lineup like we’ve got, even a solid player like Guddie is expendable. Sigh, oh well.

Hell, I say let ‘em have Badjohnsen for free! He’s the worst piece of business we did since … well, since ever. Let West Ham pay his food bills, which (judging by how much weight he put on last year) must be substantial.
