Barcelona’s 2007/08 jerseys: A crime against humanity

By: Isaiah | June 22nd, 2007

I don’t usually go for overreaction and mindless psychosis, but this seems the perfect time to do exactly that. After all, Barcelona has just unveiled their new away and 3rd jerseys for the 2007/08 season and they might as well have done away with the home jersey too. Look at these monstrosities:

Away Jersey:

3rd Jersey:

I just threw up on myself. Honestly. Vomit on my shirt and pants. WHITE? Are you f-ing kidding me? WHITE? Good lord, who are we? And the blue is bad enough. Why can’t we just stick with the orange? It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t as bad as the blue and certainly not as bad as the white. I hope we try to argue that we should wear white in the Bernabeu…after all, we’re becoming Real Madrid in the transfer market, so why not?

I am so mad right now.

Oh the horror! El Barca wants nothing more than to be the US MNT with that 3rd shirt. I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

It’s a fact, teams with lighter-colored jerseys are more likely to get more favorable calls. Just case you guuys want to try a handball or something.

I miss the fluorescent away jerseys…guaranteed to cause opponents to suffer from seizures while also increasining visibility on the pitch.

The white third jersey looks like a fake, probably copied from the USA men’s jersey (which I don’t think is bad, but weird on Barca.

That color blue hurts my eyes. The white isn’t so bad although I can understand the displeasure with the color choice. Hopefully the home kit stays classic.

Just so you know those arn’t the real jerseys. You can find the real ones if you look hard enough.

That 3d kit is exactly the same design as Celtic’s 06/08 international kit, except green and gold in place of the blue and red.

    http://www.kitbag.com/stores/celtic/products/kit_selector.aspx?selector=54&nav=Replica

I understand a Barca fan’s revulsion of white, but its a fantastic looking shirt, and I am a proud owner of one.

With all the money in marketing kits its amazing Nike isn’t more creative than this, ie all the Nike sponsored countries having the same kit at the World Cup.

Nike is making everyone have white shirts now for some reason. Arsenal fans went through the same thing when pictures of the new away kit first came out…

That blue is horrendous. Are they going for a retro look net year?

Though it might look nice on Thierry Henry…

Don’t shoot the messenger if that isn’t true, nut on newsnow there are a plethora of reputable sources saying the same thing.

Don’t freak out man, the white has not been confirmed. Take a look here http://www.footballshirtculture.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=365&Itemid=26 and here http://www.soccergaming.tv/showthread.php?t=141481&page=75.

The precedent yellow flashy shirt was a strange choice too. I think it’s a trikery to force their adversaries to play with the away jersey. This shirt is too dangerous for the eyes, a too long exposure could provoke a cancer of the eyes.

No problem man. Those shirts you posted on seem to have been made by some blogger using this years template, but just adding new colors via Photoshop (look how badly done the white one is). Although the ones I posted on haven’t yet been official announced on the club’s website, they probably are the real deal (notice the Camp Nou 50 year celebration thing around the badge because Barcelona are going to renovate the stadium this year).

chris, they’re suggesting 16 million GBP for henry. Even a 30 year old Henry is not worth less than darren bent.

AJ, I noted the quality of the pics before too, but since they were reported on El Mundo Deportivo, I figured they were probably real. I’ll post later that they’re fakes when confirmation comes through about the 50th year anniversary ones. Hopefully you’re right…those blue-on-blue ones are weird looking, but much nicer than the neon insanity of the other version.

Any self-respecting Barca fan knows that baby blue or neon or even polka dots are better than white.

As for Henry, 16 mill sounds about right when Ruud was sold for 10. I don’t care what he’s quoted at, Darren Bent is worth 8-9 mill.

Nah, those are fake. The ones linked by AJ look much more plausible. Imagine having a white shirt. No way - the club members would revolt.

I have to say, I miss the neon yellow of 05-06. Too bad Chelsea have decided to copy us (hey, I didn’t say it, the English press reported that their Russian overlord was inspired by Barca’s kit) for their new away kit.

can i just say that the 3rd kit shown here is actually cream. obviously barca would not make a white kit. and the 2 kits on that link are fake as well, did you notice they are just on someones bed? and why would they have the 50 years of the nou camp thing on the away shirt?
