My apologies go to you, Jose. :)

Marquez for MotM. He kept us at 1-0 with his awesome interceptions and tackles.

Boixos Nois was there? I knew I herd a “Barca Barca Barca” chant at some point in the game.

The negativity is palpable…I only saw the second half, but I thought the pressure we were putting on them defensively was pretty damn good. We lacked the final ball everywhere, Henry should’ve owned the left (not that he had attacking help from Puyol or Busquets…everything seemed to be drifting to the right on attack), Yaya made some pretty noticeable mistakes, Messi was, well, too invisible. But the tempo of the half was so intense. Pique and Marquez were great, Alves was tearing up the right, Xavi was better than his last few performances, apparently Eto’o missed a pretty bad chance but made some pretty good runs. I think the most apt thing to say is that the strikers, as a whole, were half a step off. None of the front three latched on to the services they should have taken.

i think we were lucky to get a 1-1 draw. We didnt attack well, in the second half we certainly were the better team but only had 1 chance, and thank god we took it.

Good draw you guys, i give credit to henry, even though i feel if our markers had been more attentive, there is no barca goal.

Even though Barca seemed the superior team as far as passing and movement, i Feel Lyon were the better team. period.

The negativity came from the first half, were we didn’t do much and allowed them to create a bunch of chances.

In the second half, Lyon was really careless and eventually got too tired to do anything substantial. This was due to the massive amount of pressure they put on us in the last 15 minutes of the first half. Barca dealt with it with ease, though.

Barca now have an away goal. I’d prefer the lead, but… if the score is 0-0 at the end of the Camp Nou game Barca will go through.

Assuming Barca can keep Juninho from making another amazing free kick in the next game, Barca should go through.

Is it just me or is Valdes the worst keeper for a big team?

I do believe Isaiah called the score…not the scorer, but whatever…

I didn’t see the game. What did Valdes do to make him the villain?

He watched one of Juninho’s free kicks go into the far post. It’s hard to score against the far post from Juninho’s angle, but Valdes made it ohhh sooo easy.

Ajani, its not what he did, its what he didnt do.

Juninho was going to take a free kick, and somehow it didnt cross Valdes’s mind that Juninho was going to shoot at goal, which is what he did. Valdes was too far to try to dive, so he just turned and fell. good job jackass.

Its Juninho! of course he is going to shoot, good God, man!

    alessio,

    it’s not just you.

Rafa MOTM, he was great today. but games like this really show how much we need Iniesta and our utter lack of depth on the bench. there was not 1 single player we could bring on in the 2nd half that could change the dynamic of the game for the better. pray for no more injuries.

An OK result today.. It’ll be difficult for Lyon to win in the Camp Nou. VERY difficult.

    But not impossible.

He did read one of Lyon’s crosses and barely intercepted it. Benzema was behind Valdes, completely free and with the entire goal in front of him.

It was a good interception but imo most keepers make it.

    Thoughts:

    Valdes: you suck.

    Henry: thank you.

Eto’o: I would have, had I paused it at the moment you went 1v1, bet $1,000 on you to score that chance. Are you kidding me? But, to be honest, because that is the truth, that I would have, I do not want you to leave. Samu forever.

Messi needs help from the left side and it wasn’t that Henry wasn’t supplying it, it was that Busi wasn’t supplying Henry whatsoever. When Keita was put on, Henry got considerably more chances on the ball and made some superb crosses with it. Why didn’t Busi get the memo to shift just slightly to the left with his passing instead of always pushing it to the right to Xavi, who plays on the right as his natural position? Dunno.

1-1. Good stuff. Valdes, you’re officially on notice.

Other than that mistake, Valdes was good. But Lloris didn’t have that mistake. We would have crucified Lloris if he had as a buffoon. And so we must say that Valdes too is a buffoon.

Is it just me (Perpetual critic of Valdes most of the time), who thinks that this one cudnt have been saved by the best keepers (Casilas, Cech, Van Der Saar, Buffon). Nothing Valdes cud have done. Even Pep himself has said that post match.

All those keepers stop that ball because 98% of them would have been expecting it.

And the ones that wouldn’t have been expecting it would have saved it anyway because Valdes’ reflexes are worse that my granma’s.

Even I, as an amateur and pretty bad keeper, knew that was going in half a second after he shot that ball. That’s with the bad angle, too. It started to curve in towards the goal long before it got near Valdes. I think he thought it was going over, which is why he stopped, then he realized it wasn’t going over, which is why he started to back track, and the he realized it was in the back of the net, which is why he collapsed like a dolt.

Keepers don’t have the opportunity to get tired too often. So.. if you think it is going over the bar, why not back up and make absolutely sure? That’s what most keepers do and that’s why most keepers save that, even if most barely get to it. Someone like Casillas or Julio Cesar catch that as if it had been shot by a nine year old.

Look at the angle AND the distance ffs. How do you give him the opportunity to sneak that into the back post with such a terrible angle?

70% of keepers expect that shot.
the other 29.9% dont expect it, but save it because they were properly positioned.

for that shot to go in, 3 things needed to happen:
    1. One hell of a Shot. Check
    2. Dimwitted Keeper who isnt expect Juninho to shoot.
    3. A keeper that was about 2 yards infront of the NEAR post, thus leaving the far post COMPLETELY open.

All three happened. One could say the best keepers wouldnt stop it in that situation, but the best keepers have better positioning, and expect him to shoot.
