this is supposed to be barca not real madrid or chelsea.i know the financial is gr8 at the club but i want to see youth players like jefferson n gai playing.we already lost cesc fabregas,martin croasas,iago,giovani dos santos becoz of this galacticos thing this is not good forza barca

But BA, what’s the harm in trying it out? We can’t buy a player till Jan 2009 anyway, so instead of waiting till then, I feel it’s time we mix and match. Out of 90 mins, try it out for 30 mins or so.

Right now, the left wing is weak with Abidal and Henry trying their best, but they just don’t seem to click. Now on the right wing we have Messi and Dani Alves, so basically we have 2 strong guys on one side, and no one on the other, so if Messi shifts to the left, we have equilibrium.
Secondly, if Messi plays of the left, IMO he’s forced to pass to a team mate, like the goal he set up for Crespo against Serbia I think it was during the WC. I say forced because he does not have the angle to shoot with his left and he can’t shoot with his right, so he’s going to use the leg he’s more comfortable with and hence he’s going to pass. If he’s on the left, he tries to cut and cut and shoot with his left, since he has the angle, but most of the time his shot is blocked…

Bojan is as Catalan as he believes himself to be, to whatever level that is. He was born and raised there and if he identifies as Catalan, then he’s not merely a product of the youth academy (like Messi), but also a Catalan. Whether that means anything is up to you. To me, it means nothing, but I’m neither Catalan nor Spanish and don’t care for regionalism any more than I care for nationalism (having grown up in several different places, I have no “homeland” so to speak).

I couldn’t agree more. I can’t stand the “shop till you drop” attitude of EPL teams. We don’t need those players to come platooning in, though the fact that we can’t have them (squad size restrictions) definitely keeps us from doing so. At least I think so. Laporta would be more than willing to bankrupt the club to bring in bigger names and push his ratings up a bit…

I forgot Victor Sanchez (Mata) from Terrassa. I don’t know if Bojan can be considered a “true” Catalan either. His mother is Catalan but his father is Serbian. And there is Jorquera but he doesn’t figure prominently on the club. My point being that Puyol, Xavi, Valdes and Pique are the most prominent Catalan born players on the club. Sergi Busquets is from Sabadell (a province of Catalonia as well.)

and yeah iniesta was born in Fuentealbilla, Albacete. as far as i can see, it is only iniesta, pinto and pedro who are not catalan of all the spanish players.

no, iniesta is from albacete, which is not catalonia, as far as i know. can anyone correct me on this? i dont know spanish geography.
