1) The Henry Fairness Committee should accept that Henry’s first half was trash. He was slow, out of position, and incapable of shifting the attack either forward or horizontally. Now, all the Henry detractors should accept that Henry’s second half was stellar. He was where he should have been, moving better, faster, and inserting the ball in incisive ways. Part of his first half was that he hadn’t figured out his defender (Mosquera), who was very, very good tonight. So keep that in mind when considering a player’s “rating”…

2) For all the Messi lovers (and I’m one), he was crap for 60 minutes. At least in terms of what we expect from him. He held the ball too long, attempted to dribble when he should have passed, didn’t produce very much positive movement. In the last half hour, he was stellar, but mostly because of off-the-ball movement and brilliant passing from teammates.

3) When Hleb came on, I laughed at his first 2 touches. The first was him missing the simplest of passes from Guddy, the second was an interchange with Messi that would have worked out better had Messi not screwed it up (and caused Hleb to foul a player), and the third, right as I was talking some serious smack about him to my brother, was an absolutely exquisite through ball that Messi used to round Palop and score. Can’t say that’s a bad 3 minutes worth of work…

4) Sevilla deserved more than a 3-0 home loss. I thought the ref was pretty trashy. He was both inconsistent and rather incompetent, which is basically the worst possible world. (I didn’t even notice Eto’o’s yellow) Sevilla were solid in defense, well organized, and full of manly manitude. Can’t say I could ask for more out of a team. It just didn’t work out for them today, but it will next week against Madrid.

Luis Fabiano did not elbow Busquets, he maliciously clobbed him with his hand. I wish it had been a yellow so that he could still paly againts Madrid.

It’s great how after we destory a team they are so angry they take it out on Madrid. Next week it’ll be fun to watch Madrid v Sevilla. IMHO sevilla is more dangerous than Valencia and EE. Bit because the FCB v EE is the super clasico anything can happen. So as of now we are 6 points from second place and from EE. Let’s see what El Submarino Amarillo does tomorrow.

And for the record, there doesn’t need to be a Messi v Henry war. Both players are immensely valuable to the side, in their own way. I just clamor for fairness.

And I have to say that despite the Messi brace, my MOTM is vacillating between Xavi and Yaya right now. Have to watch again.
