Deco injured in training

By: Isaiah | May 3rd, 2007

Deco was injured in training today and it looks like he’ll be out for right around 2 weeks. There isn’t much more you can say except “goddammit” at a time like this, when the team needs to not only be healthy, but on top of their game.

It looks like it was a knee sprain, so it won’t keep him out all that long, but it will be long enough to put a lot of pressure on the rest of the squad, especially on the midfield who will have to create without their centerpiece. I remain optimistic as Edmilson’s return will allow Iniesta to step more into the center attacking midfield position, but we’ll see what Rijkaard opts to do on Saturday.]

[Update: Deco was injured in a collision with Ludovic Giuly and I suppose it’s fortunate that both weren’t injured. Marquez remains injured, but as I wrote previously Edmilson and Motta are back in training and could play on Saturday. Juliano Belletti is apparently also back to full training, which is very encouraging after his series of injuries.

Well, Sara, I guess that’s one way to put it, but for “the worst in this world” we seem to be doing pretty well in the league this year. Regardless, I’ll take your thoughts into consideration.
