Despite his goal, you cant tell me that Henry should stay, rather than Eto’o, after this match. Henry stunk.

If you looked at tonight’s game you wouldn’t keep anyone. Confidence is very low and its hard to judge players at times like this. Look at Raul. He looked finished last year but has a new lease of life playing in a side which is flying. Attitude is the key thing here and a willingness to work hard for next season. Whoever replaces Rijkaard needs to assess that before rushing into wholesale clearouts. Bringing in Henry sounded like a great idea last year but it didn’t work out.

My personal inclination would be to say adios to the over 30s, bring in a decent centre half chosen for aggression and positional sense rather than footballing ability (I’m fed up with our defence all being in the wrong place whenever a ball comes into the area) and go carefully after that – with the exception of booting Zambrotta’s sorry backside as far as is practical.

If we can get silly money from Milan or anyone for Ronnie lets take it but it won’t be a disaster if he stays. A new manager, a season with very little football, his reputation falling and nobody climbing over themselves to buy him might all combine to get the edge back on his appetite.
