News of the Day: FC Barcelona’s 2012/2013 Home and Away Kits

When I learnt to use MS Paint, I also thought the gradient tool was awesome, but I grew out of it! (image via @gerardromero)
At this point, it’s clear that the good people at Nike hate our guts. Some two years ago, the club made some inimaginable offence against their Design Department, who are getting their revenge any way they can. I don’t care that each shirt is made out of nine recycled plastic bottles or that, when not in use, they tuck baby pandas to sleep, this is unforgivable.
This is the home kit. Because apparently vertical stripes are really hard to do.
We assume that you, like us, have been drinking, but that's not why the shirt looks blurry.
This is the away kit and its obvious inspiration. Try drinking enough of those to reach Nike Kit Designer levels of drunk.
Tiny umbrella not included.
This is the goalkeeper kit, the less hideous of the lot. The truck tires on the hips are a nice touch.
Not for the first time I wonder, what's going on in VV's shorts? (image via @gerardromero)
PROS:
-Now, last season’s kits look tasteful and subdued, even the toothpaste mint green one.
-Opponents will be too busy sniggering to play properly.
-Iniesta wearing the away kit will mean that rival goalkeepers will need to wear a welding helmet.
CONS:
-Everything.
-Seriously, everything.
-This brings back uncomfortable memories of the Nineties, for those of us who lived through those kits.
So, there you have it. Even if we could afford it, there’s not way you’d see us buying those things. How about you? Are you getting one? Do you *shudder* like them?
(Manchester United fans are not allowed to express their sympathy or complain about theirs, which at least can double as a fancy picnic tablecloth)
