Pep continues building a day-care at the Camp Nou...

-As we had anticipated under the flurry of rumours a few days ago, it has been confirmed that PSV Eindhoven and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement over the person of Ibrahim Afellay.

PSV Eindhoven and FC Barcelona have reached agreement on a deal to bring Ibrahim Afellay to Barça, with only the personal terms between the player and the Catalan club to be settled over the next few weeks.
The player will be registered in January once the winter transfer market opens. Until the deal is finally settled, Ibrahim Afellay wishes to concentrate on the upcoming important games for PSV.

‘Personal terms’, hm? Considering his age, I think that a supply of lollipops and a place in the bench by Bojan should be enough to seal the deal!
Say what you want about Don Sandro Rosell (and we have lots of things to say about him and his ears), but so far he’s been extremely good at this signing thing, hasn’t it? Quick, quiet, painless and considerably cheap (word is Ibi will cost us 3 million euros), that seems to be his policy, and considering our past buys (cough*Chygrynksiy*cough), it’s an improvement.
What do you think about Afellay, and what do you think Thiago Alcántara thinks of him?

-And the last international break of the year has carried away 13 of our players, which is almost ridiculous. Spain has claimed the usual eight victims (VV, Puyol, Piqué, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Pedrito and Villa) for a friendly against Portugal, while Messi and Mascherano, and Dani Alves and Adriano, will meet in Qatar for a classic Argentina-Brazil friendly. Eric Abidal has been forgiven by Laurent Blanc for the World Cup snafu and will be at the England-France friendly at Wembley… you know, just in case you were missing mid-week matches!

He was pretty good in the game against Turkey last night, also he can play center mid or wing, just like iniesta, Welcome to the Camp Nou, Ibrahim Afellay!!

  • Pyro

Why are we spending money on mids? Because Pep obviously doesn't trust 19 year old Thiago and 20 year old Dos Santons in a crucial La Liga/Champions League fixture to give Iniesta or Xavi a sub. I think the purchase of Afellay is excellent.

  • Seattlecule

Considering close to half the main team (Pique, Busquets, Messi, Pedro, Bojan) are younger than Afellay, I don't think lollipops are going to suffice :-P

why are we spending money on mids (or possibly from rumors, forwards) especially on such youngs ones, if we want to give a breack to iniesta and xavi why don't we use thiago, or jds or the many more that come up through are missiah, from i've seen from affilay i'm not impressed and convinced that thiago is much better, to those that say affilay is making apperences on the deutch national team, his a sub fabrigas is a sub for spain, is affilay as good as fabs?
i like how cheap the buy is but its not what we need.

  • MIGUELITO

Agreed. good buy unless barca is secretly planning to sell thiago. lol. no but seriously, i see good things from the 24 year old, but its gonna minimize JDS's playing time. though yes i know jona wont make the complete transition to the senior team probably till next year, but he does need at least a little bit more playing time for him to develop into a top notch player.
