Show Yaya the Money
By: Isaiah | March 26th, 2009
Why are we dithering on this? Seriously, give the man a better contract. Or this stare will be turned on you. And that, of course, will wither your soul.
Spam filter caught a gem: “As an Australia-based Bears fan, I found your blog on google and read a few of your other Bears posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.”
More posts soon, I promise.

Messi’s goal was awesome team work.
Zanetti (one of the most underrated players of the past decade) stole a ball and ran it damn well 50 yard before passing it to Messi who left one defender in the box and played a one-two with…Tevez (yeah, that’s right)… got it back and finished.
In the 44th Messi put in a WONDERFUL through ball for Aguero who beat the keeper but should have shot sooner because the defender behind him managed to clear it off the line. Should have been 2-0 at the half.
Messi is still adapting to being the offensive center of the team in the absence of Riquelme but he’s shown flashes of brilliance. He is also the new Argentina #10.

Free kick by Xavi from the center/right flank, to Ramos on the far post, bounced and went across toward the right post, pique kicked it in.

Pique, español!
Pique, español!
Pique, español!HAHAHA He’s gonna catch hell back in the Barca locker room for this one!
On more somber news….
Keita, Caceres, Pique, Eto, and Xavi have all played 90 minutes. The rest I’m not sure but we’re gonna have one tired squad.

My spanish repost was Too late lol
Aguero either had to shoot sooner or with more power. He though its job done before kicking the ball.

Did anybody see Riberys goal for France? Fantastic strike! We better watch out for him….

Well, I think that’s nothing new for us, isn’t it (watching out for Ribéry)? He will be THE threat in our CL encounter with Bayern. But on the other hand, Messi is still a bigger threat to Bayern than Ribéry is to us, plus we’ve got Iniesta, Xavi, Eto’o, Henry, Bojan, Dani Alves etc.
On paper, it’s clearly a win for us, but sometimes the paper lies…Yeah, perfect assist from Messi, now on Tevez and it’s 2-0 !!! Good job! Messi the king

Why is Messi still on the pitch? 3-0. Game over. Come on. Rest the boy!! Why is it all our players have to play the full 90 in these internationals. Same thing happened in the last round, and those were all friendlies!!

even tevez and aguero got a rest and the score is 4-0

Why is Veron getting booed every time he touches the ball??

I think Messi is intelligent enough to preserve energy in such a match which is already decided. You can keep him on the pitch and it won’t have much effect on his fitness if he plays either 60 min. or 90 minutes. But as Messi is the most dangerous striker, as long as he is on the pitch he might still explode in a single second and create a moment of brilliance. I don’t think these explosions cost him a lot of energy seen in the long term, so it shouldn’t have an impact on his upcoming performances for Barca (there will be more exhausting matches for him anyway than this qualifier against one of the worst South American nations).

That was just one of this moments I’ve been talking about! Messi definitely deserved a 2nd goal for his run in the 93th. minute! Maybe I am biased, but for me he is the man of the match and this match will give him even more confidence. In the end he has been celebrated by the audience, although there were reports that in Argentina, Messi isn’t valued that high by the people.

Wow Messi just made two crazy runs….shame neither ended in a goal. Might have justified keeping him on the pitch.
Helge i have no doubt Messi is fully capable of conserving energy, but why risk him when you are 4-0 up? I am more worried about him picking up an unnecessary injury as opposed to getting tired. Pep made a nice gesture to Maradona in allowing Messi to play in friendlies even though they had an agreement that he wouldnt. It would have been nice to see some reciprocation on Maradona’s part in protecting our best player.

Messi missed on purpose. If he would have scored that one, 1 in 10 Argentinians might have died of delirium.
Can’t wait to see what the haters over there have to say now. I actually REALLY liked the Veron-Messi connection. Good stuff.
Oh yeah, Mascherano is a MONSTER but we all knew that. I mean, I love Yaya and all but OMFG that guy is a beast. Proper Captain although Zanetti also did a Captain like job in the back. His run to initiate the counter that resulted in Messi’s goal was amazing. I still can’t believe he is not really 21.

Ahh dammit all to hell I missed the Argentina game. I thought it was on tomorrow. Damn damn damn!
Messi might be the kind of player that likes to stay on the field and finish the whole game. That may be why he’s rarely subbed out (even when he is at Barca). Lots of players are like that, including me. When I’m doing good, I don’t care if another game is coming up in a few days, I just want to stay on the field because it helps your confidence. And that can counter the effects of fatigue.
It’s not the best mentality to have because of the risk of injury, but it’s also a risk to unsettle a player by constantly subbing him out when he’s enjoying being on the field.
Pique’s goal was pretty funny. Xavi’s cross was excellent, even Ramos wasn’t expecting that much brilliance which is why the ball bounced off his lap. He was already digging his face into his hands when Pique was barely kicking the ball a thousandth of a second later. Haha.
Overall a bad game, though. I liked Mata, but Senna was looking horrible out there! He got robbed, I swear, like a dozen times. wtf? I had never seen him get robbed once before this game. Cazorla was good, had a few moments were he made me angry (such as the time he should have passed to Torres but decided to dribble into a defender and lose the ball).
You can really see that Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc, and Silva are what drive that team to success. Mata is looking great, though. I can’t believe these guys are all still so damn young. This is the beginning of a dynasty!

The U.S. was close to both losing and winning against El Salvador. Ended with a 2-2 draw.
Mexico won 2-0 against Costa Rica. Ochoa FINALLY starts as keeper.

Pique is pretty hardcore Catalan so he knows he’s gonna get so much shit for saving Spain’s bacon.

For those that didn’t see it. This was Messi’s last run against Venezuela.

In Diego’s words, “if he had scored that one, we would all have had to walk out of el Monumental, pay for tickets again, and walk back in”. Seriously, if THAT had gone in…
